Do Good Wisconsin Launches “Snow Angel Program” to Support Neighbors in Need This Winter
Do Good Wisconsin is launching a new community support initiative called the Snow Angel Program, designed to identify and assist neighbors who may need extra help clearing snow. The idea was spearheaded by Executive Director Eric Salzwedel to spread kindness and support individuals who may face physical or mental challenges that make snow removal difficult.
“This program is being created to offer community support to those in need during the winter storm months,” Salzwedel said. “Wisconsin truly has some of the kindest and most generous people, always willing to lend a hand. The Snow Angel Program connects those good-hearted individuals with neighbors who could use a little extra help.”
The program operates through a simple referral process. Individuals can refer themselves or others using an online form. If approved, a yard sign reading “A Snow Angel Is Needed Here” will be provided at no cost. The sign serves as a visual cue to the community that assistance is needed; however, it does not guarantee that snow will be removed in a timely manner or at all.
“This is truly a pilot program, so we’re starting small to see how the community responds,” Salzwedel said. “My hope is that interest grows quickly so we can expand the program and help even more neighbors across Wisconsin.”
Community members are encouraged to nominate themselves or someone in need by completing the online referral form, which can be found on Do Good Wisconsin’s Facebook page.
The Snow Angel Program is made possible through the generous donors who support Do Good Wisconsin’s mission to foster a culture of kindness, giving, and philanthropy across the state. The organization showcases acts of good, supports local nonprofits and teachers, and encourages community involvement in service.
Individuals interested in supporting this program and the ongoing work of Do Good Wisconsin, please consider making a donation.
